Harrogate-based employers met and interviewed local students about exciting potential opportunities.
Representatives of ten companies visited Harrogate College yesterday (Wednesday, November 2) to participate in a Student Recruitment Fair.
The event, set up by the Harrogate College Employers Network (HCEN), allow local businesses to speak directly to students – all with customer service training experience – about their work.
They were also able to interview some students for part-time, study-friendly positions, resulting in at least two job offers within a day.
Harrogate College Principal Danny Wild said:
“We were delighted to have so many of our major local employers supporting this event, which generated a lot of interest from our students.
“Having a few job offers made that day was fantastic, and I know most of the participating companies also took away the contact details of a number of other students that they may well be in contact with again.”
“This careers fair came about following feedback from the Harrogate College Employers’ Network and is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our training helps local businesses thrive.
“It was very encouraging to see the first one go so well and we look forward to hosting more fairs, supported by our local business partners, as part of the college calendar in the future.”
Participating companies were: Springfield Healthcare, West Park Care, Cairn Group, Disability Action Yorkshire, Vida Healthcare, Harrogate Healthcare Facilities Management Ltd (Harrogate Hospital), ATM Ltd, Arc Inspirations, Anchor Care Homes, Morrisons plc.
