Man docked for allegedly stealing chemicals from his employer

Solomon Effiong, 21, was arrested at Ogudu Magistrates Court in Lagos on Thursday for allegedly stealing chemicals worth N10 million from his employer, Jepho Okeson Enterprises Ltd.

Effiong, who lives in the Mile 12 area of ​​Lagos, is charged with conspiracy and attempted robbery.

According to prosecutorInsp Donjour Perezi, the accused committed the crime between 2016 and 2022 at Jepho Okeson Enterprises Ltd. in Ojota, Lagos.

He said the defendant, a company employee, entered the premises and stole several chemicals, including sulfuric acid, menthol crystals and peppermint oil.

He also mentioned paraffin oil and some empty plastics as chemicals.

He also claimed that on September 13, at around 10 p.m., the accused broke into the company’s premises and attempted to steal the same products again, but was apprehended by a security guard named Abbey.

According to Perezi, the security guard called the complainant, Jephthah Udeozor, on the phone to report the incident.

He claimed the offense violated sections 287(7), 406(2) and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Act 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Mr. O. Tanimola, the magistrate, granted the defendant a bond in the amount of 1 million naira with two bonds in the same amount.

She said one of the surgeries had to be a blood relative.

The case was adjourned to November 11 for a hearing.
