IIT Hyderabad Placements: 466 job vacancies for 427 students, highest salary at Rs 65 Lakh

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad witnessed 466 offers (including 34 international offers) from 104 companies during Phase 1 of on-campus internships. The placement campaign ran from December 1 to 7 in online mode. A total of 650 students registered for internships across all departments this year. For Phase 1 of the placements, a total of 210 companies registered compared to about 116 companies in Phase 1 of 2020 and 195 companies in the entire placement process in 2020 at IIT Hyderabad.

The highest package received by students this year was recorded at Rs 65 lakh, and the average package is Rs 23 lakh for ongoing internships. Including accepted Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), a total of 427 students have already been placed in the ongoing Phase 1 placements for the 2021-22 academic year. This compares favorably to the total number of students placed in the previous academic year (2020-21), which was 305 students (including 49 PPOs).

The first batch of graduates from interdisciplinary MTech programs at IIT-H, such as MTech in Smart Mobility, saw 100% placement within the first week of the placement process. The number of students opting for semester-long internships also more than doubled to 33 in 2021-22 from 12 in 2020-21. Many India-based startups and companies are among the top recruiters this year. No less than 10 start-ups submitted 36 offers this year.

The various initiatives taken over the past two years, such as the one-semester internship for BTech, interdisciplinary MTech, industry conferences, industry-defined MTech projects, etc., have started to yield results. results and we will continually improvise on them.

Congratulating the students on a great start, Prof. C Krishna Mohan, Dean (Public and Corporate Relations) said, “We reorganized the Placement Office at IIT Hyderabad into the Office of Career Services two years ago with the sole objective of taking care of the overall career development of students, including counseling in deciding the appropriate career. A focused goal is conducive to achievement, as evidenced by this year’s placements.

This internship season started on a positive note with 82 Pre-Placement Offers (PPO), against 49 PPO the previous academic year. Phase 2 of internships will start in January 2022. There is the same trend in international offers this year as well compared to last year. For the current placement year 2021-22, we have received 34 international offers (as of today) from 07 companies from 2 countries (i.e. Japan and Taiwan). Other international offers are expected in phase 2. For the internship year (2020-21), we received 30 international offers from 8 companies from 2 countries (Japan and Taiwan).
