With its 252 students from the class of 2022 receiving job offers in the first phase, IIT-P has seen a massive increase in job placement offers compared to the previous year when 96 students were recruited by different companies. The first phase of the annual placement campaign began in October of this year.
Sources said this year’s placement campaign saw the most bids and excellent packages. “This is a remarkable achievement for IIT-Patna in the midst of the Covid crisis. The placement campaign was conducted in virtual mode this time due to the pandemic,” an official from IIT-P said. .
Six students received the second highest job offer of Rs 57.4 LPA each from Atlassian. MTX offered Rs 51.1 LPA to one student, Adobe India Rs 48 LPA each to nine students and Google India Rs 46.5 LPA each to 10 students. Accenture Japan, on the other hand, offered Rs 47.9 LPA to three students each.
A total of 46 offers were extended with a compensation package of more than Rs 40 lakh and 68 with a compensation package of more than Rs 30 lakh, said Kripa Shankar Singh, Training and Placement Manager, IIT-P .
“The institute has seen a steady increase in the average fee this time over the previous academic year. The average fee for BTech students is Rs 26.95 LPA and for MTech students it is Rs 14.96 LPA Over 30 new companies participated in the on-campus placement campaign this time,” Singh added.
At least 87 companies in software, IT, finance and banking, analytics, consulting, basic engineering, e-commerce, automotive, infrastructure, manufacturing and healthcare have recruited students from IIT-P.
So far, more than 78% of BTech students and 40% of MTech students have received job offers. In BTech, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) tops the list with 96% placement, followed by Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.
Jose V Parambil, Head Professor (Training and Placement), IIT-P, said: “We have seen a significant increase in Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) extended to BTech and MTech students. By 2021, the institute had received 37 OPPs. The increase in PPOs shows the resilience and commitment of our students during summer internships.
